French Gres salt glazed stoneware jar

Heavy 'Gres' stoneware storage jar with unglazed breathable lid, and thick heavy sides which helps keep the contents cool. Traditionally used for food storage in the large and small kitchens in the Brittany area of France. Made to store cornichons, butter, preserved lemons or olives, and other food items in the cellar.
Signed: made in France.
Measurements: with lid, 17 cm high. Diameter 13,5 cm.
