Jeanne d'Arc (1412-1431) died at the stake in Rouen, only 19 years old. She was then, and still is, one of the most famous French women ever. Born as a simple farmers daughter, she became commander of the French army during a very short, but important period of the hundred years of war between France and England (1337-1453). She managed to secure the throne for Charles VII. The inquisition sentenced her to death because of suspicion of witchcraft. The Catholic church cleared her name in 1909, the year of her beatification. Her canonization followed in 1920.
Measurements: 22 cm diameter.
Condition: normal wear of the glaze on the reliëf, considering the age. The plate has a fine line.
