Antique framed engraving FP Nodder The Naturalists Miscellany Purple Throated Fly catcher
SKU: PR18Frederick Polydore Nodder (1770 - 1800) was an English flora and fauna draftsman. His work mainly consists of copper engravings, drawings and miniature paintings. Nodder became known with the illustrations he made for the different parts of George Shaw's well-known reference work The Naturalist's Miscellany. These volumes appeared in London between 1789 and 1813. On sale is plate number 63, an image of the 'Purple Throated Fly catcher', dating from 1 April 1791.
This 225 year old, hand-colored engraving is framed in a wooden frame with a passe-partout with a gold-colored inlay. Both engraving and passe-partout are slightly discolored. This is included in the price.
