Rauenstein Blue Bird cup with saucer 19th century
SKU: SD286In 1783 the three Greiner brothers set up the Friedrich Christian Greiner und Söhne porcelain factory in the Rauenstein Castle, Thuringia (Germany). They competed with Meissen and its successful blue and white porcelain range, with the difference that the Rauenstein products were made from thicker porcelain and therefore broke less quickly than Meissen products. Greiner und Söhne, popularly called Rauenstein, was in the hands of the Greiner family until 1893.

Not signed, but with certainty attributed to porcelain factory Rauenstein. The Blue Bird pattern was produced from 1859 on by Gotthelf Greiner in Rauenstein Castle, Thuringia (Germany). Collectors item.
Dimensions: diameter cup 6.9 cm and 6.5 cm high. Diameter dish 13 cm.
In excellent used condition.
