Japanse Showa dragonware cup and saucer with litophane Geisha

Large Japanese eggshell porcelain tea cup with saucer decorated in gold, red and yellow with a fire-breathing dragon. The set was made during the Showa period between 1945 and 1952 in occupied Japan in Nagoya for the GI trade (the souvenir trade with American soldiers). This so-called dragonware porcelain was decorated on the bottom of the cups with a litophane picture of a Geisha, only visible with backlight.
Marked on the underside of the dish in gold: Made in Japan.
Dimensions: diameter cup 9.8 cm and 5.3 cm high, diameter saucer 14.2 cm.
Condition: excellent.
