Chinese 1960 Famille Rose porcelain sculpture HeHe twins
SKU: CW62Vintage Chinese porcelain figurine of the immortal heavenly twins HeHe Er Xian. These smiling twins are the two poet-monks Han Shan and Shi De of the Tang dynasty. They are usually depicted sitting on a cloud, holding a box and a lotus stem. The box in this figurine even holds a surprise in the shape of a little animal. The twins are a Taoistic symbol for perfect partnership and therefore HeHe ErXian figurines have been offered as a wedding gift for many centuries. The paintwork and the shape of the figurine are very detailed.
