Antique Christofle silver plated dinner fork in pattern Chinon.
In 1853 a partnership was established between Christofle and Charles Halphen, who had developed a method for mass production of silver-plated cutlery. Christofle's designs were made by Halphen from the special Halphen metal alloy and then silver plated by Christofle. The name Alfenide refers to Halphen.
Marked: a frame divided over 2 layers with the name ALFENIDE, the Christofle mark and a frame with a number for the year of production. See choice list for availability year of manufacture and dimensions.
Dimensions: standard fork 20.7 cm long, table fork 21.1 cm long.
In used condition, with some small spots of silver wear on the back..
