Antique Christofle silver plated dinner spoon in model Chinon, marked with the year letter from 1877.
In 1853 a partnership was established between Christofle and Charles Halphen, who had developed a method for mass production of silver-plated cutlery. Christofle's designs were made by Halphen from the special Halphen metal alloy and then silver plated by Christofle. The name Alfenide refers to Halphen.
Marked: a frame divided over 2 layers with the name ALFENIDE, the Christofle mark and a frame with 77 for the year of production (1877).
Dimensions: length 21.3 cm - 8.39 inch.
In used condition with a fairly large spot of silver wear on the backside.
