The text on the plate edge reads: 'Pleuronectes Platessa', Plaice are bottom feeding fish, most active at night. Very bright orange spots and pearly white underside indicate their freshness. Commonly found from the western Mediterranean and southern Spain, northward to the Barents Sea and Iceland.
Marked on the base.
