German porcelain Silhouette cabinet cup early 19th century
SKU: SD1007White porcelain cabinet cup, decorated on one side with a black Silhouette image with the text: Frau von Stein mit der Büste ihres Sohnes Fritz (1783). Hand-painted. Gilded bands on the edges of the saucer, the underside of the cup and the handle.
Charlotte von Stein (1742 - 1827), was an influential lady-in-waiting at the Weimar court and friends with Friedrich Schiller and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Germany, first half of the 19th century.
Handmarked in black on the underside of the cup: 16/2142/2165.
Dimensions: saucer diameter 10.7 cm, cup diameter 5.5 cm, height 8 cm (including ear).
In excellent condition. No damage or wear to the gold.
