Codd direct pull corkscrew and bottle opener, invented by Hiram Codd, who introduced the Codd soft drink bottle and designed an opener for it in 1872 with which the rubber bottle closure with marble was pressed into the bottle neck. The Codd bottle was very popular for decades until the invention of the crown cap.
