Large salt-glazed stoneware jug.
Westerwald, Germany, 2nd quarter of the 19th century.
At that time, jugs were placed with the handle forward. This visible side was richly decorated with a dark blue floral pattern. A hole has been pierced at the top of the handle to prevent a shrinkage crack during the baking process.
Dimensions: 30.5 cm high.
In excellent, undamaged condition.
