Biedermeier glass, gold enamel painted with the Karlskirche in Vienna. Made as a souvenir. The glass has a baluster-shaped bowl and a stem with a faceted knot. The pontil is polished and the base is ribbed cut. Convex bottom of the bowl. The satin-finished bowl is divided into two halves by a vertical, gilded stripe on either side; one half is gold enameled with an image of the Karlskirche; the other half has a clear cut medallion engraved with 'St Karlskirche in Wien'. The medallion is surrounded by gilded leaves. The top and bottom of the bowl are decorated with a gilded border.
Vienna, Biedermeier period (1815 - 1848).
Dimensions: 9.5 cm high, base diameter 5 cm.
