Japanese porcelain bottle vase with a body decorated in red underglaze with golden floral patterns applied in overglaze. The neck is decorated in underglaze blue on white. The vase has two cartouches on either side that show a representation of two girls standing at a waterfall, with one girl hiding behind the other looking a bit fearful. The other two sides are decorated with a large lotus flower. Very nice paintwork with an original representation.
Not marked, made Late Edo, around 1840.
Dimensions: height 31 cm, diameter base ring 8 cm.
Condition: the neck opening has a chip.
