A pair of antique Japanese Satsuma vases, glazed in deep cobalt blue (Gosu Blue). The vases are decorated with a Rivers Edge representation with flowers on one side, a Geisha and boy and Mount Fuji in the background and a Rivers Edge representation with tree on the other side. Flower pattern in gold on the cobalt blue glaze, trimmed with gold on the base and the vase opening. The vases were made in the Meiji period (1868 - 1912), around 1900.
Marked on the base.
Dimensions: 18.5 - 18.2 cm high (1 vase is 0.3 cm higher than the other).
Condition: no damage, some light wear of the lower gold edge.
